Why you should visit Verona?
Shakespeare never visited Verona, but nevertheless he chose to situate his famous play Romeo and Juliet in this romantic city. When you are in Verona you can imagine why. The character of Juliet is based on a real woman who lived in Verona. You can visit the house where she presumably lived, la casa di Giulietta. The story goes that who touches the right breast of the bronze statue of Juliet will be lucky in love!
But this wonderful city has much more to offer than Romeo and Juliet. For example the Arena di Verona. During the summer there is a fabulous opera festival hold in this beautifully preserved Roman amphitheatre. Here you can enjoy operas such as La Traviata and Aida. Or just simply order a cold drink on a hot day at the Piazza delle Erbe and see the Italian life pass by at this beautiful square.
You can go shopping at the Via Mazzini, admire Castelvecchio and its museum, climb the Torre dei Lamberti and after all this have a delicious dinner at the Piazza Bra. And the next day it will start all over again, because you shouldn’t miss the Arche Scaligere (Scaliger Tombs), the beautiful Basilica of San Zeno Maggiore or the gorgeous garden at the Palazzo Giusti.
Verona has so much to offer!
