So, where are the clubs in Amsterdam?
Although there is no shortage of nightclubs all over Amsterdam, they do tend to flourish in and around the Leidseplein and the Rembrandtplein.
Near the Leidseplein
The Leidseplein (Leiden Square) is located at the south end of the middle canal ring. Many of the tram lines meet at the Square, so transportation to the clubs is a breeze. The trams stop running at 12:30 AM, but don’t worry, there are six night bus lines running between the Centraal Station and Leidseplein between 12:30 AM and 7:00 AM. So, all your hours are covered, which is very convenient when you consider that there are clubs that are open 24 hours a day! Do look out for the Melkweg, which offers earplugs for protecting your ears. And then there’s the Jimmy Woo‘s 11,700 light bulbs that will keep you bright-eyed all night.
Near the Rembrandtplein
For more partying, let’s move on to the Rembrandtplein in central Amsterdam. The famous square was built in 1668, starting its life rather quietly as a dairy market.
It is no longer quiet.
Popular with tourists in the daytime, it really comes alive after 11:00 PM when the night life begins. As is the case with the Leidseplein, there are six night bus lines running between the Centraal Station and Rembrandtsplein, starting at midnight – well, 12:30 AM to be exact.
Don’t miss Thirsty Thursdays at Club Escape, but dress well – the dress code is quite stringent. And for a bit of intrigue, and some interesting lighting themes, do give the John Doe Club a try. The name itself spells mystery – hmm, it makes one wonder, doesn’t it?
