Does Madrid Barajas Airport Have Sleeping Pods?

Madrid Barajas Airport does not currently have any sleeping pods in the conventional sense of the word. There are, however, several other options for passengers who desperately need a few hours’ rest before their next flight.

Sleeping Pod Alternative 1 – Benches and seats

There are lots of seating options available throughout the airport, but they are often metal or wooden and not particularly comfortable. Try to find one of the few benches without armrests.

If you just want to relax in a comfortable chair, try one of the following eateries:
– Mahoudrid Cafe, terminal 1
– McDonald’s, terminal 4, also has comfortable seating

The airport also offers a couple of rest areas just after Gate 17 in Terminal 4S. There are two islands, each with 6 reclining chairs that are padded and fitted with power outlets and even USB ports.

Sleep Pod Alternatives 2- Airport lounges

There are a few airport lounges at Madrid Barajas Airport as well. These can be accessed with a day pass. You can also pay at the door or buy an annual membership.

– Neptuno Lounge, terminal 4
– Plaza Mayor, terminal 4
– Premium Arrivals Lounge, Terminal 4
– Sala Puerta de Alcala, Terminal 2
– Sala VIP Cibeles, Terminal 1
– Sala VIP Puerta del SOL, terminal 3

Sleeping Pods Alternative 3 – Guest room service

Madrid Barajas Airport also offers a modern, stylish guest room service on an hourly basis. These rooms have everything to ensure a comfortable rest or sleep. You will find the reception desk at terminal T4, on level -1. They are open 24/7 throughout the year.

The location ensures that you can access these rooms with your luggage before check-in. If you are in transit, however, you will have to first pass through Customs and Immigration to get to terminal T4’s public area.

Each of the rooms has either 2 single beds or a double bed and a private bathroom. You can book an overnight stay or book the room for anything between 3 and 6 hours.

Other services available include 24-hour reception, courtesy coffee, mini-bar, toiletry accessories, hair drier, TV, towels, flat-screen television with global channels, A/C, wake-up service, telephone, desk, safe-deposit box, Wi-Fi connection, free international and local newspapers/magazines, breakfast, and a photocopying service.

Please note that breakfast comes at an additional charge and some of the other services depend on how long you book the room for.

The following additional services are also available: luggage transport, Fast Track, ESTA for those who want to travel to the United States, and business services such as phone, internet, courier, fax, photocopies, dry cleaning, and personal shopper.
