Cheap airlines & flights from London Gatwick to Amsterdam?

Which airlines fly cheapest from Gatwick to Amsterdam

Gatwick is one of London’s ‘big three’ airports (the others are, of course, Heathrow and Stansted) and as such is a great airport from which to fly to Amsterdam. The Netherlands capital is serviced by Schiphol International Airport, which is itself a major hub for many airlines.

Cheapest airlines not always ‘Best’

Some cheap airlines offer rock bottom prices, but they require you to fly or land at anti-social times, or they might include stop overs along the way, meaning that a couple of hours flying time can turn into long drawn-out hours in airport lounges. Of course, if the saving is worth it, snap up those bargains!

But for many others, time is a consideration alongside money, and they would, whenever possible, prefer to fly directly to their destination, in this case Amsterdam. There are so many airlines using Schiphol that it does not take much work to find an equally (or almost as) cheap flight that goes directly, or that operates at an acceptable time.

Not just cheap airlines to Amsterdam

Gatwick to Schiphol is a short flight, and many planes fly back and forth every day, so you do not just have to scan the budget airlines to score a good flight to Amsterdam: you will sometimes have a pleasant surprise looking at the listings of the regular airlines too!

The winner (at time of writing!) leaving from Gatwick

While the average flight from Gatwick to Amsterdam runs at just under £200, the cheapest flight that we could find was one from a regular airline: none other than British Airways, which was not only the cheapest flight at £168 return, but was the quickest too, offering a direct flight from Gatwick straight to Schiphol International Airport in Amsterdam in just one hour and fifteen minutes!
