How long does the ferry take from Newcastle to Amsterdam

There is a way to travel from England to Holland via water, and it’s the ferry that connects the city of Newcastle with the city of Amsterdam. This is one single ferry operated by the Danish company Det Forenede Dampskibs-Selskab or DFDS Seaways.

The Newcastle-Amsterdam ferry runs six days a week, leaving from the International Ferry Terminal in North Shields -just outside of the Newcastle city center- at 5pm. There is also a ferry that leaves from the port at IJmuiden, a small city that’s about 40 kilometers outside of Amsterdam, at 5:54 pm. So there’s actually two DFDS Seaways ferries that cross paths in the section of the English Channel that separates England from the Netherlands. In either case, a one way ferry journey between Newcastle and Amsterdam usually lasts around 17 hours, give or take a few hours depending on the seasonal conditions.
