In which league plays Ajax Amsterdam

Officially known as AFC Ajax (Amsterdamsche Football Club Ajax), Ajax Amsterdam is a very famous football club based in Amsterdam, as the name suggests. The Dutch domestic football powerhouse, which was founded in 1900, is a spitting image of the heart and soul of its home-base city, Amsterdam, in terms of its impact locally and on the world!

While the city of Amsterdam tops the list of most visited destinations in the Netherlands, its premier football club, Ajax, tops the list of the most successful clubs in the Eredivisie, Dutch football’s top tier. Although Ajax is rightfully referred to as one of the Netherlands’ top three biggest and most successful clubs, its success is somewhat of a runaway success and it can be justifiably separated from the other two that make up the big three to stand alone as the Netherlands’ most successful club.

The spitting image of the city of Amsterdam, as contained in AFC Ajax, goes beyond the domestic borders of the Netherlands though, because in the same way that Amsterdam continues to punch above its weight in terms of global appeal for travel and tourism.
